Electromagnetic metamaterials, plasmonics and transformation optics / 2. Modeling of time with metamaterials: metamaterial models of the Big Bang, the 'end of time', and the fractal time / 3. Nonlinear optics of the metamaterial 'spacetime': quantum hyper-computing and time crystals / 4. Metamaterial multiverse / 5. Metamaterials and Plasmonics Laboratory at the Advanced Science Research Center at the Graduate Center, CUNY.
The first part of the book describes the fundamentals of this research area, starting with a review of Maxwell’s equations in a form suited to the description of metals. Subsequent chapters introduce the two major ingredients of plasmonics, surface plasmon polaritons at metallic interfaces and localized plasmons in nanostructures. Plasmonics publishes peer-reviewed articles that both advance and report on the knowledge and practice of the interactions of free-metal electrons, Plasmons. Coverage includes theory, physics, and applications of surface plasmons in metals, and rapidly emerging areas of nanotechnology, biophotonics, sensing, biochemistry and medicine. In this chapter, the basic principles of electromagnetic metamaterials, plasmonics and transformation optics are introduced. The properties of 3D and 2D (plasmonic) hyperbolic metamaterials are briefly reviewed, which will be used in the following chapters. It is shown how electromagnetic metamaterials may be used to engineer unusual 'optical.
T..B. Hoang, G..M. Akselrod, M..H. Mikkelsen, Ultrafast Room-Temperature Single Photon Emission from Quantum Dots Coupled to Plasmonic Nanocavities, Nano Letters. 16, - (). Metamaterials Handbook: Theory and Phenomena of Metamaterials by Filippo Capolino provides a very broad historical review of the plasmonics and metamaterials. If you work in the field, you should read through this book. Plasmonics and metamaterials have attracted considerable attention over the past decade in the fields of superlens, cloaking, absorber, etc. Recently, plasmonics and metamaterials have seen a dramatic increase of novel ideas with combination of new materials and structures, creating a new horizon, so-called plasmonic metamaterials.

In the present work, we demonstrate that the problem of strong material absorption that is inherent to plasmonic systems and metamaterials based Cited by: 5.Plasmonic metamaterials provide a unique pathway to generate, guide, modulate and direct light by having structural features that are significantly smaller than the operational wavelength, and behaving as essentially homogeneous media that can be accurately described by effective constitutive parameters.A plasmonic metamaterial is a metamaterial that ebook surface plasmons to achieve optical properties not seen in nature.
Plasmons are produced from the interaction of light with metal-dielectric specific conditions, the incident light couples with the surface plasmons to create self-sustaining, propagating electromagnetic waves known as surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs).
